A synthesis of a wealth of research that was undertaken by SAIL's Dr Cade Bonar and Ms Lauren Norbury on the topic of boys education.
This research was presented to staff and the following activities were undertaken at the conclusion.
ACTIVITY
1. Individually, using the resource sheet and presentation as a guide, consider the ways in which you ‘teach boys’.
2. As a group of 4-6, share and discuss teaching and learning strategies that attend to ‘what the students say’ and ‘what the teachers say’.
3. Evaluate these strategies as a group, then refine and detail practical/ actionable steps, linking them with at least one of the ‘themes’ from each
category (e.g. playfulness and open inquiry).
4. Share to the larger group (all staff) one of these strategies.
