SAIL seeks to foster relationships and networking amongst internal and external staff with the purpose of sourcing and evaluating new teaching and learning strategies that are in line with The Learning Framework in order to enhance curriculum, use of learning spaces, and increase student engagement.
At SAIL, we believe that by intentionally creating opportunities to gather, connect, observe, listen and discuss, staff will keep up to date with the latest global thinking and best practice with regards to technology, innovation and pedagogy. These internal and external relationships will provide inspiration and support to those who are seeking to become early adopters of innovative pedagogy and latest technology.
Informal conference-style meetings held by teachers all around the world to work together for better CPD (continued professional development) and mutual support, as well as to share ideas and to provide inspiration for good practice.
The goal of a pilot program is to examine which theoretical strategies work in practice. A mindset of growth and continuous improvement is important.
Sharing the ideas, programs and work of the wider team at national and global conferences.

The Associates Program is an opt-in opportunity for St Andrew's staff that connects them and their passion for education and research with other like-minded practitioners. It is a space for teachers to share and grow innovative ideas and practices, pilot concepts and feedback to the group regarding their successes and failures.
SAIL Associates contribute to and facilitate internal teach meets, trial new ideas in classes, present research findings at internal and external seminars, and attending Insight SAIL Tours to further connect, grow and be inspired.
The work of the Associates will feed into the St Andrew’s Professional Development Program which will generate energy and vision that will be directed back into the College. Both SAIL Directors and SAIL Associates are available to host and facilitate or travel to other schools to present or run workshops.

Insight Tours differ from regular professional development sessions or simply attending a conference due to the fact that they seek to expose the attendees to a variety of perspectives and experiences in order to enhance curriculum, develop learning spaces, or increase student engagement. By intentionally creating opportunities to gather, connect, observe, listen and discuss, staff will keep up to date with the latest global thinking and best practice with regards to technology, innovation and pedagogy.
Each Insight Tour will have a specific focus but all will have the common objective of being inspired by people, programs and places.

International Teacher Exchange | Global Teacher Exchange is a great opportunity for staff to travel and develop professionally by experiencing life in a different school. Currently we have opportunities to study with our Partner Schools in Japan, Hong Kong and Spain. These short-term visitations are between 2-4 weeks and usually occur during the school holidays of the visiting teacher. The program is not a swap but rather a ‘shadowing’ experience. |
